Nail Polish Review: Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in Golden-I

I’ve always been a big fan of the Sally Hansen brand. Like many people, I like the combination of affordability and quality they offer as well as the great range of styles and colors. When I saw this uber-shiny bottle on the shelf, I couldn’t help but take it home.

Sally Hansen Golden-I

The color is somewhat neutral but still eye-catching. While the shade is called “Golden-I”, it’s actually more of a rose gold than a gold gold. There’s also a silver undertone, which means it goes well with both gold and silver jewelry.

I’m not usually into glitter, but this nail polish is different. The metallic flakes are so small that it doesn’t look like glitter from a distance. What you get with all the tiny, shiny surfaces is an effect that almost looks as if your nails are glowing.

The polish goes on smoothly, not clumpy or chunky like some glitter nail polishes. I applied 2 coats of Golden-I and then topped it off with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Anti-Chip  Top Coat, and the manicure lasted several days without chipping. It wore extremely well through 4 days of typing with no chips. For a day or 2 after that, the chips were minimal.

The only complaint I have about this nail polish goes hand in hand with one of the traits I love the most. While the finish remains chip-free for days, the polish is difficult to remove. As you probably know, this is common among nail polishes that contain glitter of any kind. It definitely won’t keep me from wearing this polish again.

I got several compliments while wearing Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in Golden-I. The color is interesting yet neutral enough to be appropriate in any setting from a meeting to a wedding or a date. At about $3 a bottle, it’s a great deal. – RL
